The Sword of Talon – The Friend

Part 13 of the Sword of Talon Series

As the two of them sat on their horses overlooking the ocean, the Queen’s horse snorted while shaking his beautiful black head. “No my Queen….you are not sinning!” “It is quite natural really….of one being attracted to another….” Lorissa looked out over the ocean, then addressed her Queen again, “As for love I do not know, it is something you will have to discover on your own.”

Queen Natasha looked at her best friend squarely in her eyes, saw the care and genuine concern there, and was satisfied that she must be right. She pulled her horse to the right and Lorissa followed her back into the forest.

Several hawks overhead called out to them, and they both looked up. “You are a very special person My Queen….to have the birds of prey as your protectors.” Lorissa was in awe of the magnificent birds, and at the Queen’s connection with them.

They continued on the trail at a slow pace, and Lorissa used the opportunity to add, “My Queen you have been through so much…..please give yourself time to heal, the loss of your family…..” “And please do not be angry with me for saying this, perhaps you should put some distance, between yourself and the Captain of the Guard.”

The Queen said nothing to her friend, but smiled at her. She didn’t dare tell her friend of the dreams she had every night, of the passionate love making she imagined with the Captain.

They had just come to an open field when Queen yelled, “I’ll race you back to the castle!” And they both took off yelling at their horses.

To be continued.
